Day 1  Sunday:  Rome - Naples - Pompeii - Sorrento

Early morning departure from Rome for Naples, where a short visit of the town is featured. Then on to Pompeii the famous Roman city destroyed by the volcanic  eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 a.D. Lunch in a local restaurant, and afterwards, visit of the excavations. Proceed on to Sorrento.  Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day  2   Monday:  Sorrento - Capri - Sorrento

Buffet breakfast. Departure to Capri by steamer. Weather conditions permitting, visit of the Blue Grotto. Return to Marina Grande and then transfer to Anacapri. Lunch in a typical restaurant followed by a visit of Augustus’ Gardens, with a view of the Faraglioni. Return to Sorrento. Dinner and Overnight at Hotel.

 

Day 3  Tuesday:  Sorrento - Rende (Cosenza)

Buffet breakfast. Morning at leisure. In the afternoon, depart to Rende (Calabria region) with its magnificent Aragonese Castles. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 4   Wednesday:  Rende(Cosenza) - Taormina - Catania

After breakfast, depart to the beautiful town of Taormina, a favourite with tourists worldwide. Free time for personal discoveries, for shopping or for a leisurely stroll along the panoramic terrace. Overnight and dinner in Taormina or Giardini Naxos or Catania

 

Day 5  Thursday:  Etna - Syracuse - Taormina - Catania

After breakfast, depart for an excursion to Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe, up to the "Rifugio Sapienza", 1900 meters above sea level and time to enjoy the suggestive view. Continue to Syracuse, for a guided visit of the Neapolis Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre and the Ear of Dionysus, an ear-shaped grotto. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 6  Friday:  Piazza Armerina - Agrigento

After breakfast, guided visit of the Roman Villas of Piazza Armerina with their beautiful mosaics, a site that is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Then, depart to Agrigento, to admire the Valley of Temples. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day  7  Saturday:  Agrigento - Monreale - Palermo

After breakfast, leave to Palermo. First stop in Monreale for a guided visit of the outstanding moorish-norman-style Duomo, extensively decorated with mosaics and fine gold. Today a Farewell Lunch consisting of typical local products will be served. Continue to Palermo and after a panoramic visit of the city transfer to the airport.
