Departures:                Pickup from your Hotel between 7 - 7.15 am sharp

Day 1:                         Tuesday (Rome-Assisi-Siena-Florence)

 

Early morning departure for Assisi, the mystic town of Saint Francis, still surrounded by ancient walls.  Narrow streets open to the beautiful Basilica of Saint Francis with its early Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue; then proceed on to Siena, the beautiful medieval city renowned for the Palio. Then to Florence. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 2:                         Wednesday (Florence)

 

Breakfast at the hotel.  After breakfast, a guided sightseeing tour of the cradle of the Renaissance follows.  You will visit the beautiful Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery of St John, the Academy of Fine Arts Gallery, housing the “David” by Michelangelo and Santa Croce, the 13th Century Franciscan church with the famous Cimabue crucifix.  Rest of the day at leisure for optional sightseeing or shopping. Dinner and overnight.

 

Day 3:                         Thursday (Florence-Padua*-Venice)

 

Breakfast at the hotel.  After breakfast, depart for Venice via Padua.  Visit the Basilica of St Anthony, guarded by “Gattamelata”, Donatello’s equestrian masterpiece.  Upon arrival in Venice, you will enjoy a guided walking tour of this unique city; you will see, among other things, the Piazza and Basilica of St Mark, the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the Prisons.  Dinner and overnight

 

 

Day 4:                         Friday (Venice-Rome)

 

Breakfast, then morning tour to a glass factory in Murano by motorlaunch. In the afternoon, return to Rome by motorcoach or by Italian rail (the mode of transport is reconfirmed 1 or 2 days before the end of the tour and advised by the Tour Leader).   Arrival in Rome very late in the evening.
